Our Residents
We believe that our residents are our greatest strength. We are fortunate to attract outstanding residents from around the country. Our program is large enough to have flexibility to support the unique needs of our residents, yet small enough that residents form close relationships with one another. This collegial environment makes the University of Wisconsin an ideal one in which to pursue your pediatrics training.
Our residents are quite successful at work and outside of work. Here are some of the honors, grants, and activities of our residents in the past few years:
- Six-figure grant from the Baldwin Wisconsin Idea Endowment to a build literacy-rich environments in both inpatient and outpatient settings throughout our hospital and clinics
- UW Housestaff Association Excellence Award (annually awarded to 3 of the over 500 residents and fellows at UW Hospitals and Clinics)
- CATCH (Community Access To Child Health) grant from the American Academy of Pediatrics to start a mentoring group for teens with chronic illness
- Member of Public Health Curriculum Advisory Board
- Art showing at AIDS Action 2007: Express (World AIDS Day Event)
- Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Fellowship
- Multiple teaching awards
- National and regional poster presentations and published papers
Our residents are also active in the state and national American Academy of Pediatrics, and have held these positions in the past few years:
- Section on Medical Students, Residents and Fellowship trainees Executive Committee member
- Chair of the Medical Student Subcommittee
- CATCH (Community Access To Child Health) Liaison
- Section on Administration and Practice Management Liaison
- Positions in the Wisconsin AAP
